Mission Statement
One Ohio United is a 501 (c)(4), nonprofit organization that advocates for public policies that foster an environment conducive to retaining and creating jobs in Ohio, educating Ohio’s workforce for a 21st century economy, and help state and local governments function more efficiently and effectively.
Survey Shows
Ohioans understand we are in a recession, but they also know politicians have been ignoring the budget problems too long. We have fewer taxpayers, state and local governments are engaging on too many fronts, and Ohio has increased spending while their ability to fund it has declined.
Current Project
The voters of Ohio have yet to focus on the extent of the budget crisis. But, our research shows they are looking for real solutions. Ohioans believe the State needs a budget that is good for the economy; one that does not raise taxes; one that frees localities to manage their monies more efficiently; and one that stops the loss of jobs.
The voters are looking for their legislators to act and do not want to be distracted by special interests’ arguments over specific cuts. Our project will provide information and public support to insure the legislators have the information and support they need during the budget process. We are looking at a calendar that begins today and ends no later than June 30th. Prompt action is required!
While we will be communicating with the Ohio public in general we will be targeting district by district. It is a multi-layered effort that will include broadcast and cable television, direct mail, web advertising, and an aggressive email contact program. It will provide voters with the tools to connect and engage on their own terms.
Republicans and Democrats understand business as usual is not good enough and politicians have ignored the fundamental problems of how the state of Ohio raises and spends money. We have now entered the period where our legislative leaders will be crafting the actual language for the Governor’s signature. The time to act is now.
